Size Guide

When choosing a Mellary ring to elevate your style, finding the perfect size is essential. We’ve created this simple ring size guide to show you two easy ways to measure your ring size and ensure the ideal fit.

When to measure

Finding the right ring size isn’t only about how you measure — timing matters too. For the most accurate result, measure your finger later in the day, ideally in the afternoon or evening, when it’s at its natural size. Since finger size can slightly change during the day, we recommend measuring at least three times and using the average measurement for the perfect fit.

How to Measure Your Finger Circumference with String and a Ruler

To find your perfect ring size at home using just a piece of string (or dental floss) and a ruler, follow these simple steps:

1. Choose your materials

Take a thin, non-stretchy string, thread or dental floss. Avoid elastic or very stretchy materials as they can distort the measurement.

2. Wrap around your finger

Gently wrap the string around the finger where you plan to wear the ring.

Make sure you wrap it comfortably snug, not too tight and not too loose - just snug enough that it won’t easily slip off.

3. Mark the meeting point

With a pen or fine marker, mark the point on the string where the ends meet after wrapping around your finger.

4. Cut the string

Carefully cut the string at the marked spot so that the piece represents exactly the circumference (circumference = the full length around your finger).

5. Measure with a ruler

Lay the cut piece of string flat against a ruler.

Measure from one end to the marked point in millimetres (mm) - this is your finger’s circumference at the ring position.

6. Check repeat measurements

To ensure accuracy, measure 2–3 times and use the average of those results. Fingers can vary slightly throughout the day.

7. Use a size chart (optional)

Once you have the mm measurement, you can compare it to a ring size chart (EU/US/UK) to find your official ring size. Most charts list circumference in mm alongside standard ring sizes.

Tips for Best Accuracy:
  • Measure when your hands are at a normal temperature - not cold or overly warm - as finger size can change with temperature.
  • Make sure the string can easily slide over your knuckle, especially if your knuckle is larger than the base of the finger.
  • If your measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size for a more comfortable fit.

If you’re determining your ring size by comparing it with a ring you already own, make sure it fits comfortably over the knuckle, as the knuckle is often wider than the base of the finger. Keep in mind that each finger differs in size and width, so this should be considered when selecting rings for different fingers.

If you’re choosing a ring as a gift, simply trace the inside of one of their rings and match it to the closest circle to determine the correct size.
